used Jeep for sale

One of the biggest decisions when buying a Jeep vehicle is whether to buy used or new. While buying new is certainly the right choice for some drivers, buying a used Jeep for sale is a popular choice due to its lower price and increased selection.

One of the biggest questions that buyers face is regarding how to judge the condition of a used Jeep for sale. Here are some tips on what to look for.

Exterior and Interior Inspection

Before getting behind the wheel of that used Jeep Grand Cherokee or Jeep Cherokee, take a look at the interior and exterior of the vehicle. Make sure to check for:

  • Dents
  • Scratches
  • Rust
  • Even body panels
  • Paint overspray on the inside of the hood, trunk, and doors
  • Wear and tear in the upholstery
  • Musty smell
  • Water damage

We heavily inspect every model before it ever reaches our lot, so we don’t expect any of these issues to come up. If you do find something amiss, just bring it up to your dealer, and we’ll find a solution that works for you.

Test Drive

The vast majority of experts wouldn’t recommend buying a used car without first taking a test drive. Going for a test drive will not only allow you to see if the vehicle is right for you, it will also allow you to look for problems with acceleration, braking, and handling.

Before hitting the road, turn the key to the accessory position to see if any dashboard warning lights turn on.

When you start the engine, make sure to:

  • Check for tapping and clicking sounds. They could indicate a problem
  • Drive the car on different types of roads and at varying speeds
  • Note any unusual engine or brake noises.
