Jeep® Lease FAQ

Leasing versus buying is one of the biggest decisions that people face at Woodhouse Chrysler Dodge Jeep® Sioux City. If you’re new to leasing a Jeep SUV, you likely have a lot of questions, given that leasing is quite different from buying. Our dealers are happy to answer any questions you may have about your Jeep lease.
What is a Lease?
A very basic way to think about car leases is that they’re similar to a long-term car rental. A lessee (you) pays money to the lessor (the bank, dealership, or the actual owner) to use the car.
The lease agreement is set for a certain length of time, typically two or three years. You’ll pay a down payment upfront, as well as a monthly fee.
What are Mileage Limits?
Another common question that the professionals at our Jeep finance center receive is related to leasing mileage limits.
Most lease contracts stipulate that you are allowed to drive the car for a set amount of miles, typically between 12,000 and 15,000 per year. If you exceed these limits, you will pay a per-mile fee.
What Happens at the End of a Lease?
When your lease contract comes to an end, you have a few different options:
- Return your leased vehicle and walk away
- Return your leased vehicle and lease a new vehicle from our dealers
- Purchase the vehicle outright
What are the Advantages of Leasing?
Many people choose to lease rather than buy because leasing offers:
- Lower monthly payments
- Less commitment
- The ability to drive the newest Jeep models when they are released
