2022 RAM 1500 Engines By MPG

Just because most drivers buy a 2022 RAM 1500 for its towing capacity or off-road capabilities, that doesn’t mean that some of them aren’t concerned about the gas mileage that this versatile truck has to offer. However, it’s important to note that this isn’t always a simple question for your RAM 1500 dealer to answer.

RAM Engines

The 2022 RAM 1500 is available with four different engines.

3.0-liter EcoDiesel V6 engine: This is the most efficient engine option for the 2022 RAM 1500, but it still offers plenty of towing power. A truck equipped with this engine can travel up to 23 miles per gallon in cities and 33 miles per gallon on highways, according to EPA estimates.

Generally, fuel economy numbers for most vehicles are going to be better on the highway. There’s less stopping and going, and cruising at highway speeds is a bit more efficient than navigating crowded city streets.

3.6-liter Pentastar® V6 engine: This is the default engine option on most trim levels. Expect a 2022 RAM 1500 equipped with this engine to max out at 20 miles per gallon in cities and 25 miles per gallon on the highway.

5.7-liter HEMI® V8 engine: A RAM truck with this engine can travel 15 miles per gallon in cities and 22 miles per gallon on highways.

Supercharged 6.2-liter HEMI® V8 engine: This engine, found only in the 2022 RAM 1500 TRX, puts out an incredible 702 horsepower. As such, it’s not known for its fuel economy. Expect this engine to get 10 miles to the gallon in cities and 14 miles per gallon on the highway.
